n the spring of 2009 Privateer Media was approached by the German company Gruppe5 Filmproduktion to work on the National Geographic production of "America Before Columbus." The two hour long documentary was filmed at several locations throughout the United States and the Caribbean, and it was during the Pennsylvania segment that Privateer Media was brought on board to handle props, wardrobe, marine coordination and payroll.

The majority of the regional filming took place at French Creek State Park just west of Philadelphia. Post production wrapped quickly, and on November 22nd, 2009 the documentary aired for the first time on the National Geographic Channel.

ollowing the success of its first published book "Building 18th Century Naval Artillery," Privateer Media began work on its second book - "A Modern Treatise on Winemaking in Colonial America." The book is a collaboration between Damian Siekonic and Don Becker and involves an intensive experiment that compares the historical winemaking techniques of the 18th century with today's modern scientific approach to winemaking. The 2009 harvest provided the fruit that will be the focus of this book's efforts, and publication is set to coincide with the maturation of the wine in the fall of 2010. So far all of the wines have been made and bottled, and two of the wines - an apple wine and apple cyser, have won bronze medals at an American Wine Society amateur competition in August of 2010.
